廣東警方偵破多起“飆車炸街”案件
今年以來,廣東省公安機關 intensively implement a special operation to crack down on illegal activities of street racing and speeding, popularly known as "drifting parties." This kind of behavior often occurs during summer nights and seriously disrupts the normal lives of people while posing a great threat to road traffic safety.
The authorities have been focusing on tackling traffic violations such as racing, illegal vehicle modifications, driving without licenses, and speeding.
According to a report, in January 2024, the police in Foshan cracked down on a "drifting party" case, capturing 30 suspects. These individuals organized an event called a "drift street race" in the city's Sanshui District, where they gathered to race illegally modified electric bicycles on the road. Nine people were criminally detained, 5 were administratively detained, 14 were fined, and 2 received warnings.
In February 2024, based on public tip-offs, the Shenzhen police handled a case of "drifting party," arresting 6 suspects. The investigation revealed that these individuals were engaged in chasing and racing behaviors with six motor vehicles on roads like Maluanshan Tunnel in the city. Six people, including Liu, were criminally detained.
On April 12, 2024, the police in Shantou uncovered a case of "drifting party," apprehending 7 suspects. It was found that on the night of March 7, Gao and others drove high-power motorcycles to the intersection of Donghai Avenue and Hong Kong-Macao Road in the city, where they collectively turned around to flee in the opposite direction at high speed to evade the checkpoint set up by traffic police, seriously endangering the safety of passing citizens. It was also revealed that Gao, Zheng, and others organized street racing activities in the city center multiple times through WeChat groups. The police criminally detained Gao and 6 others.
Overall, the crackdown on illegal "drifting parties" in Guangdong has been successful in curbing these dangerous activities and holding responsible individuals accountable, ensuring a safer road environment for all residents.
The Guangdong authorities are committed to maintaining law and order on the roads and will continue to crack down on illegal street racing and speeding activities to protect public safety.
The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activities related to street racing or drifting parties to the authorities to help prevent accidents and maintain a peaceful community.
Through joint efforts between law enforcement and community members, Guangdong aims to create a road culture that prioritizes safety, responsibility, and respect for traffic laws.
